God’s People Engaging God’s World

A Mission (or Purpose) Statement must clearly enunciates the purpose of existence of BWMC, and must reflects its unique interpretation of its Kingdom activities in regard to the Great Commission (which is the Mission Statement of the Universal Church).

As you unpack the Statement, you will find two entities, and an action word linking the two entities together:

Entity 1: God’s World

It is God’s creation, 7 billion of them, each and everyone unique and specially made by the Creator in His own image, and for whom Christ came and died, and rose from the dead.

Entity 2: God’s People

It is God’s special chosen people—called, redeemed, washed, empowered and destined—as a unique testimony to God’s redemptive grace and work.

Action: Engaging

It is an action word (verb). It is in present continuous tense. The word indicates the nature of BWMC’s Kingdom activities in the world, which is broad enough to accommodate a range of ministries, and gentle enough to indicate respect for others and their convictions.

The Mission Statement is theocentric; it is both God’s people and God’s world, acknowledging that our mission of engagement is exercised entirely within God’s realm.
